FC Barcelona have announced the departure of Ansu Fati to Monaco on a permanent deal. The Spanish international was on loan at the Principality club last season.

Unlike Wout Faes and Simon Adingra, Ansu Fati will continue his journey with Monaco.

As reported for several days, the Catalan saw his purchase option activated by the Principality club for €11 million. The forward has signed a four-year contract.

Plagued by injuries, Fati had fallen off the radar at the Blaugrana club but managed to bounce back in Ligue 1.

With 11 goals in 25 league appearances and 12 goals in 30 matches across all competitions, he lived up to expectations, to the point where a return to the national team was discussed, though it never materialised.

Barcelona thus saves an annual salary of €6 million and retains a resale percentage, which was not specified in the club's official statement.
