Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player in history to score at six different World Cup tournaments with the opener against Uzbekistan on Tuesday.

The 41-year-old received some heavy criticism for a largely anonymous performance in Portugal’s World Cup opener against DR Congo.

In dire need of a win following their 1-1 draw, it took just six minutes for Ronaldo to score the opener against Uzbekistan.

Joao Cancelo swung in a lovely ball, finding Ronaldo at the near post, who then tucked it away with an instinctive first-time finish.

After failing to net in his previous 10 games at major tournaments, Ronaldo managed to grab a second goal of the game, moving his overall tally at World Cups to 10 - surpassing Eusebio's record.

He now also has 145 international goals in 230 appearances, both of which are records in men’s international football.
