Danish national team captain Trine Ostergaard will leave CSM Bucuresti and return to Denmark to play for Viborg HK on a two-year contract from the beginning of next season.

Viborg HK has secured the experienced left-wing's signature on a two-year contract and Ostergaard will join the club from the beginning of next season, says Viborg in a press release.

"This is a player from the absolute top shelf, but Trine Ostergaard is not just a player with enormous qualities on the court - she is also a leader and role model who fits perfectly with our values and ambitions", says Viborg HK's director, Jens Steffensen.

Trine Ostergaard will complete six years abroad with her third and final season for CSM Bucuresti. During the World Cup finals earlier in 2025, Ostergaard said that she wanted to leave CSM Bucuresti and therefore wanted to make use of a clause in her contract which gave her the opportunity to change clubs.

"I actually knew that almost already this summer, because we got a new coach, who was my old coach. I felt that was perhaps a bit of a setback on the part of the club", said Trine Ostergaard to TV 2 Sport in November.

By the end of 2025, Trine Ostergaard had played 217 international matches, as the fourth most capped player in the Danish women's national team, and scored 448 goals. She has also taken part in winning medals at both the European Championships, World Championships and the Olympics.
