The Norwegian women's national handball team received unexpected support from 5,000 football fans for their quarter-final against Montenegro at the World Championships, when supporters of Bodo/Glimt, who were in Dortmund for the Champions League clash against Borussia, bought tickets for the Westfalenhalle.

On Thursday evening, up to 5,000 Norwegian spectators were in attendance as Norway advanced to the World Cup semi-finals with a comfortable win over Montenegro.

Many, many of the fans in attendance were football fans who were in Dortmund anyway because the Norwegian football club Bodo/Glimt will face Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

"It was absolutely wild. It was goosebumps from start to finish", said goalkeeper Eli Marie Raasok til NRK.no after the match

Norway grabbed the initiative from the start and led 4-0 already after five minutes of play. Montenegro never posed a threat to the reigning Olympic champions, and Norway cruised to a 32-23 win to book their ticket for the semi-final of the tournament.

"It was absolutely fantastic. It's one of the coolest international matches I've played in. They put pressure on from the warm-up to the end of the match", said Nora Mork after the match.

"They took over the entire arena. It's great fun. We've played in front of a lot of spectators before, but these fans are a little different", Henny Reistad said after the game.

Bodo/Glimt will face Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park tonight in the Champions League.
