Legendary hockey forward Jaromir Jagr (50) admitted that he will not return to the ice as an active player. The owner of the Kladno club said this in an interview with the ČTK agency and the Sport daily today. According to his words, he lacks motivation, desire and time to return, as he is busy with running the club. But the Winter Classic event with outdoor games could change the situation.
The Olympic champion from Nagano and two-time winner of the Stanley Cup and the World Championship played his last game on 25 April in the play-out game against Jihlava (6:3), after which Kladno celebrated their retention among the elite. Jagr played 48 games last season and scored 21 points - eight goals and 13 assists.
In early August, Jagr admitted he didn't feel ready to play and said he didn't have time to prepare thoroughly. At the time, however, he estimated that he could rejoin the league in November or December.
