After sustaining an Achilles tendon injury at the Stockholm Open late last year, Danish tennis player Holger Rune is set to make a comeback in August either in Canada or Cincinnati, says his mother and manager Anneke Rune.

Holger Rune is getting closer to making a comeback after he sustained an Achilles tendon injury in October last year.

In early June, he postponed his planned comeback at the grass-court tournament at The Queen's Club in London, and subsequently withdrew from Wimbledon as well.

However, his knee and Achilles tendon are improving, and he is now eyeing a comeback in August. This was revealed by his mother and manager, Aneke Rune.

"He is making really good progress on the court and is very pleased with how things are developing. He looks forward to competing again soon. Hopefully, that will be in Canada or Cincinnati," says Aneke Rune in a written statement.

The Canadian Open Masters 1000 tournament begins on 3 August. A week later, the Cincinnati Open—also a Masters 1000 tournament—takes place.

By then, the 23-year-old Dane will also be competing with new rackets.

Last week, the manufacturer Wilson announced a partnership with Holger Rune. He previously played with rackets from the French brand Babolat.
