The NHL's nine-game slate on Thursday saw some overtime winners, career milestones, and historic matchups!

Pittsburgh Penguins 5-3 Washington Capitals

Sidney Crosby scored the first two goals of the game en route to the Penguins' ninth win of the season. His 11 goals are now tied with Anaheim's Cutter Gauthier for the league lead.

But after teammates, and former Capitals player, Anthony Mantha (7) put the Penguins up 3-0, the Caps answered back with three goals of their own from Dylan Strome (4), Rasmus Sandin (1), and Tom Wilson (9) to tie it up.

A power play goal from Bryan Rust (5) and an empty netter from Connor Dewar (4) would be all that's needed to win.

This was the 99th matchup between Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin, who recently scored his 900th career goal

Boston Bruins 3-2 Ottawa Senators

Michael Amadio (4) got the Sens up 1-0 early in the first before Boston's Morgan Geekie (10) and Sean Kuraly (2) would give their Bruins the lead in the second period.

The veteran Claude Giroux (3) would tie things up for the Senators to send it to overtime, where Pavel Zacha (4) would win it for the Bruins with 5.6 seconds left.

The Bruins have now won five straight and improved to 9-7-0. Ottawa dropped their second straight overtime loss as they fell to 6-5-3.

New Jersey Devils 4-3 Montreal Canadiens

After the Devils and Habs exchanged two goals each to tie it up 2-2 early in the third period, Montreal's Oliver Kapanen (5) would give them the 3-2 lead with just under 10 minutes left in the game.

But New Jersey's Timo Meier (4) proved clutch after tying the game with under two minutes left to send it to overtime.

Jesper Bratt (5), who assisted on Meier's goal, would send home the game-winner after 1:33 into OT.

The Devils became the first team to reach 10 wins in the 2025-2026 season as they improved to 10-4-0. Montreal, much like Ottawa, have also lost two straight in overtime as they fell to 9-3-2.

Carolina Hurricanes 4-3 Minnesota Wild

Carolina's Jordan Staal set a Hurricanes record after playing in his 910th game with the franchise, and his teammates made sure to celebrate with a win.

Minnesota's Matt Boldy (6) and Carolina's Jackson Blake (4) exchanged goals to start the game before both teams would finish the first period with five combined goals, leaving Carolina up 3-2.

Bold would score his second goal of the game 37 seconds into the second period. But Nikolaj Ehlers (2) would give his Canes the 4-3 nine seconds later.

And that was all that was needed for the Hurricanes to improve to 9-4-0 after both sides failed to score in the third.

Minnesota fell to 5-7-3.

St. Louis Blues 3-0 Buffalo Sabres

In the best uniform matchup of the night, Blues goalie Joel Hofer picked up his second-career shutout after making 27 saves.

Mathieu Joseph (2), Nick Bjugstad (4), and Justin Faulk (3) each scored in different periods and that was all that was needed thanks to Hofer's night in net.

Buffalo outshot St. Louis 27-17, but fell to 5-5-4 after the shutout loss.

The Blues improved to 5-8-2.

Philadelphia Flyers 3-1 Nashville Predators

Ryan O'Reilly (6) scored the only goal of the first period to give the Predators a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately for the Preds, that's all they would get the entire rest of the way.

Philly's Matvei Michkov (2) and Noah Cates (4) gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead during the second period before Travis Konecny (5) would send home the empty-netter in the third to end it.

After putting up 10 shots on goal in the first and second periods, Nashville only managed four in the third.

The Flyers improved to 8-5-1. Nashville fell to 5-7-4 as they've now lost three straight.

Anaheim Ducks 7-4 Dallas Stars

Dallas' Wyatt Johnston (9) and Anaheim's Chris Kreider (9) both scored twice in the highest-scoring game of the day.

After Johnston put the Stars up 2-0 early in the first, the Ducks would go on to score five of the game's next six goals to take the 5-3 lead.

Mikko Rantanen (8) cut the lead to 5-4 with a power play goal, but Leo Carlsson (6) would respond eight minutes later with a short-handed goal to put the Ducks up 6-4.

Even with Roope Hintz (2) responding for the Stars to make it 6-5, Mason McTavish (3) sent home the empty-netter en route to a Ducks win as they improved to 9-3-1, having won five straight games.

Dallas fell to 7-4-3

Tampa Bay Lightning 6-3 Vegas Golden Knights

Ivan Barbashev (6) scored two goals for the Knights to put them up 2-0 to start the game.

But Gage Goncalves' first goal of the season was followed up by Dominic James' first of his career to tie it up 2-2 heading into the third period.

It proved to be an exciting end to the game, as the Lightning clinched a 6-3 win for their seventh victory this season.

Florida Panthers 5-2 Los Angeles Kings

Sam Bennett (3) got the Panthers on the board first to take a 1-0 lead two minutes into the game.

Los Angeles' Anze Kopitar (1) and Corey Perry (6) put the Kings up 2-1 before Brad Marchand (8) would tie it all up for the Panthers heading into the second period.

Sam Reinhart (7) would give the Panthers the 3-2 lead ahead of the third quarter with a goal on his birthday.

The Panthers went on to score two more for their seventh win of the season.
