Western Force head coach Simon Cron (48) believes his players can overcome their defensive issues to build on their back-to-back Super Rugby wins after seeing his short-handed side upset the ACT Brumbies in Canberra on Saturday.

Brandon Paenga-Amosa scored with five minutes remaining to give the Western Force45-42 win despite having two players off the field for yellow card offences, earning his side their first victory over the ACT Brumbies in the capital since 2011.

The win maintained the Force's perfect start to the season and Cron believes the determination shown by his players can lead the team to further success.

"The fight the boys have shown will help them in the future," said Cron. "The boys, down to 13 men and fighting, was something we are really proud of."

After the opening two rounds, the Force are one of only two teams to have made a perfect start, the Perth-based outfit joining the Waikato Chiefs with an unblemished record having secured a last-gasp 45-44 win over Moana Pasifika last week.

Both victories have come despite the Force conceding more than 40 points, but Cron is confident that the issue can be resolved.

"We've just got to focus on the areas we can fix," Cron said. "We did a really good job in the middle of the field defensively. We've just got to work on a few things down the edge."

"Emotions both weeks have been a bit of a rollercoaster. You are trying to stay pretty calm, especially with yellow card decisions," he said.

"You've got to try and work how to mitigate somebody being off the field. We try to make the best decisions we can for these guys on the field."
