World champion Zhao came into the final in sensational form, having beaten John Higgins 10-1 in the semi-finals to inflict the heaviest defeat of the Scot's 34-year career.
World number one Trump, meanwhile, had beaten two-time champion Neil Robertson 10-4 in their semi-final on Friday to go within ten frames of winning his first ever Tour Championship title.
However, despite fighting back from 2-0 down to make it 2-2, Trump was thereafter blown away by his 29-year-old opponent, who won all but one of the following nine frames to win 10-3 and add the Tour Championship to his World Grand Prix and Players Championship victories earlier in this season.
The Chinese star, who heads to the Crucible later this month as the World Snooker Championship's defending champion, has now won all six of the ranking finals he has appeared in.
