Here's a snapshot of how your club manager felt about their respective results at the weekend.

Melbourne Victory 2-2 Newcastle Jets

Arthur Diles (Melbourne Victory):

"Especially in the first half, I thought we were outstanding. I don't think we deserved to be behind and we did really well to come back. The pressure we put on them in the first half and the tempo we were playing at was fantastic. We came into half-time in a good place.

"We had opportunities to go 3-1 up. In the end, you've got to see out the match and try to get another goal and we didn't. In the end, we get bitten in the backside for it.

"I think we deserved more out of the last two games than we got. The performance is something I've got to focus on and the performance was good for a lot of that game. That's a pleasing sign and something we want to do. The points in the end should correlate with a good performance, and when they don't, it's hard to take. But we'll go again."

Mark Milligan (Newcastle Jets):

"Overall, we had a five-minute period of madness in the first half that ultimately cost us the three points. Overall I thought we were very good for large parts of the game. We stuck to who we are, we created some really good chances.

"We had an opportunity at 1-0 to really make it difficult for them with a second goal, but unfortunately Lachy (Rose) strayed offside. I think a few times they hurt us on the counter-attack, which we knew they'd look for.

"We were a little bit sloppy in the first half, tidied it up in the second, and it'd be interesting to see the last time a Victory team at home went to a back five to try not to lose."

Wellington Phoenix 2-1 Western Sydney Wanderers

Chris Greenacre (Wellington Phoenix):

"We were delighted with the win. It was really important that we put on a show for the people of Christchurch. They love their sport. They love their football and I'm glad we were able to put on a show for those guys. We wanted to keep our dreams alive, and if it is taken out of our hands, we wanted to make sure those teams had to work hard to take it from us.

"We want to finish the season as strongly as we possibly can, and that's in everyone's best interests.

"100% (proud of the team). The way that the guys have stuck together after taking quite a bit of criticism throughout the season. They've shown character and a real togetherness. From the moment I took this role on, I saw a lot of quality on paper in the squad and some incredible young players coming through. I'm thankful to all of the players for their endeavour."

Gary van Egmond (Western Sydney Wanderers):

"I thought it was a pretty even game overall. Both boxes told the tale of the tape. Wellington took their opportunities and we could have defended a bit better from time to time, in particular the two goals that we conceded. I thought we did extremely well on set pieces as they're a big team in regards to set pieces, but in general play I thought we could have done better.

"At the other end we had our chances and unfortunately didn't take them. It's a case of at times just having enough conviction to look to try and score.

"You've got to be in a position to match the motivation of the opposition, and that's easier said than done. But I thought for large periods of the game we were in control, and it's about what we didn't get in regards to the outcome of the game. That's what this team has always had to improve on."

Brisbane Roar 2-3 Melbourne City

Michael Valkanis (Brisbane Roar):

"You can just play the same press conference as every other game. It's a game we should have won. I thought at half-time we were sitting really well in regards to nullifying them and taking a chance.

"I knew that in the second half we'd have to stay strong in the first 15 minutes. I mentioned that as it has been a problem in the latter part of the season. I think we conceded two goals from the left within seven minutes, which we didn't defend very well.

"City has got a tremendous winger in (Marcus) Younis who has probably been the difference for them in 2026. I thought towards the end we saw our future with the young players who came on. We saw their energy, their endeavour, their fight, their fearlessness to attack and play. We should have exploited some of the opportunities we had. That has been the story of 2026 so far. We're not hitting the back of the net nearly enough for the chances we're creating. The football gods are not smiling on us in any way at the moment."

Aurelio Vidmar (Melbourne City):

"Very pleased, especially with the way we came back. I thought we started a bit slowly and didn't get any control of the game in the first half or take the good opportunities we had. We just didn't execute the final ball that well in the first half.

"Then we started to get more control, and on the balance of the game with the clear-cut chances created, it was the right result.

"The load of the Champions League, backing up the A-League, probably took its toll in that period. Now that we're a little bit more rested, we're managing to find an extra gear. We've got a top attitude and good senior guys who are always pushing in the right direction with young ones following. There's always a danger of being complacent when you win four or five in a row and we're just responding really well."

Sydney FC 0-0 Perth Glory

Patrick Kisnorbo (Sydney FC):

"I think the first half we didn't start well. We were second to everything and our final pass was off. Second half was a great reaction. We were more front-footed and more positive. At least I saw a reaction from the first half, and now we'll build again for next week's game.

"Since I've been in we've tried to be a little bit different. I think with the ball and without the ball we've improved and done some really good things. Now it's about getting rewarded for the hard work.

"A clean sheet is always nice. I think sometimes we made it hard for ourselves defending, which is something we've had to look at. It was a collective performance which was great."

Adam Griffiths (Perth Glory):

"Happy with the performance. It felt like we still have to push harder with our mentality to get that goal. In the first half we deserved a goal, we had a couple of good chances to take the lead. In the second half I think the travel affected the team. We need to train harder and work harder to be able to keep the intensity going for 90 minutes.

"We've won plenty of away games and (the travel) is part of it. We just need to train harder and work harder. It was a tough game. I felt like it was an entertaining game for 0-0. I'm proud of the way the players were brave and went for it, but we just need to push that little bit further.

"We've been starting games quite well. We know they are a physical team so I wanted my players to dominate them physically. I felt like we did in the first half and that was going to help us build into the game. We just needed to come out in the second half and maintain that energy."

Auckland FC 0-1 Central Coast Mariners

Danny Hay (Auckland FC):

"I'm incredibly frustrated. I couldn't fault the endeavour of the boys compared to when we played at home against Macarthur and lost. Today, they tried very hard. They worked their socks off. We just lacked a little moment or two of quality and couldn't seem to find that today.

"Incredibly frustrating given what was on the line. The boys are really disappointed because they're so fatigued they know they ran themselves into the ground. We would have loved nothing more than to go back-to-back with the Premiers' Plate.

"There's a reason Steve Corica wasn't on the bench today and that's because we've been incredibly frustrated with some of the quality of the decision making that we seem to be on the end of. That particular player who should have been red carded made a save on the line and a couple of massive interceptions, a couple of big headers in the box. If we was not there, I can pretty much guarantee that we would have gone on to win it. If the shoe was on the other foot, I think we're sitting here talking about an Auckland FC player getting sent off for poor behaviour and violent conduct."

Warren Moon (Central Coast Mariners):

"It wasn't the prettiest in the end, but I felt we could have come here today to get a result. We were disappointed after last week but put on a good performance in trying conditions. I'm just really proud of the effort from the lads.

"We showed quality when we needed it. We defended well and were very compact.

"There has been a lot of talk leading into the game about doing a favour for Auckland and helping them (win the plate instead of Newcastle) and I found it a bit disrespectful about us and what we have done as a group this season. We came to all our games with the intention to win and I think people forget the Mariners as a football club has won more trophies than Auckland and Newcastle Jets put together in A-League history. Whilst we're disappointed we can't make finals, our motivation will never wane just because we don't make finals. It was business as usual to come here and get the job done."

Adelaide United 3-1 Macarthur FC

Airton Andrioli (Adelaide United):

"We all feel very blessed to be the position we are in. Not many people were giving us a chance at the beginning of the season, but we believe in the work we put together. Those players have been growing together and getting stronger mentally. I'm extremely happy with the way we have been playing our football throughout the season.

"This was a tough game - Macarthur still had a chance to qualify and we started behind. So much credit goes to the players for their belief in what we do every day. What an opportunity to be playing this game against Melbourne City next week. The most important match is always your next one and this is the most important match.

"We said to the boys before the game it doesn't matter how we won today, we needed to get the three points to put us in this position. We're going to go to Melbourne with a lot of confidence."

Mile Sterjovski (Macarthur FC):

"We still want to finish on a high in front of our home crowd, so we'll focus on next week. We want to get a result.

"You have to give credit to Adelaide. They're a top team who plays good football. In saying that, I thought we had a decent first half and created a few decent chances. I thought the turning point was the foul against (Duke) which I don't think was a foul. In my opinion, he won the header fair and square and we would have broken forward. Instead, it was a free kick to them and from that play they scored their first goal.

"We know what Adelaide's strengths are and I thought we nullified them really well, but it's a game of 95 minutes and we had to keep the momentum going. Adelaide came out really strong and took the chances they created."
