The Magpies sit in 10th place whilst the All Whites are in 11th; both have won one game this season and drawn the other two, meaning that they have amassed five points so far, with Newcastle being above their opponents by virtue of the fact that they are one goal better off in terms of goal difference.
Leeds haven't beaten Newcastle since January 2021
In their last meeting back in January, a seven-goal thriller was won by Eddie Howe's side, though the previous fixture at Elland Road in August 2025 ended in a goalless draw.
In fact, Leeds haven't beaten the Magpies in any of their last six games (L2, D4), last earning all three points in a 2-1 away win in January 2021.
Newcastle will also be buoyed by the fact that they've lost only once at Elland Road in their last eight visits (W4, D3), via a 5-2 defeat in 2020.
Not since 1995/96 have the Magpies won their opening two away games of the season, however, and coincidentally, that was one of three seasons where Leeds avoided defeat in their first four games of a campaign (1998/99 and 2001/02 being the others).
Newcastle have scored six goals from just eight shots
Daniel Farke's side have actually only been beaten once in 12 matches stretching back into last season (W5, D6), and should therefore prove to be a worthy opponent for Matthias Jaissle and his squad.
The former first-team coach at Al Ahli has impressed many with his no-nonsense brand of management, but he does need to start getting some points on the board if he wants to be considered as the right man to have been handed the reins after Howe's departure.
He might be concerned that his side has faced more shots than any other Premier League side this season (61), and has only had eight shots at goal themselves (though they've scored from six of those).

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Harvey Barnes' favourite opponent
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been responsible for 134 of those high-intensity pressures, and Newcastle are his favourite opponent.
Against the Magpies, the former Everton man has seven goals and nine goal involvements in total, the best output he's had against one opponent in each case. His six yellow cards against them also can't be topped.
The high intensity that Farke clearly favours, then, suggests that the long ball out from the back is a tactic which works for him, with Leeds' midfielders and strikers getting after it as quickly as possible, and not allowing their opponent to settle in possession in the process.
Newcastle have a player themselves who likes playing against this particular opponent, given that Harvey Barnes has eight goals in his last nine appearances against the Yorkshire-based outfit, seven of which have come in the Premier League.
One of those was the second-latest goal ever scored in the EPL, when Barnes netted the winner in that January 2026 fixture after 101 minutes and 48 seconds of play.
Leeds are, in fact, his favourite opponent, and in the entire history of the Premier League, only Alan Shearer (20), Thierry Henry (10), Teddy Sheringham and Mo Salah (both nine) have scored more against them.
No home wins in match week four?
After a 6-3 mauling at the hands of Chelsea in the Carabao Cup in their last fixture, there's no telling just how Leeds' confidence could be affected, so if Barnes or any of his colleagues can score early, it might well set the alarm bells ringing for the hosts.
A side note to Monday night's game is that if Newcastle can stop Leeds from getting all three points, it will be the first time in 26 years that a Premier League weekend of fixtures has seen no home team win a game.
To date, it's only occurred three times: in September 2000, in December 1996 and in December 1994.
