Terry recalled the great attention he received when he was captain of Chelsea as well as the England national team. He also mentioned some advice from Gianfranco Zola back when he was a young player.
“You feel the pressure everywhere. The moment you walk into a restaurant or down the street, you know people recognise you. They want a photo, an autograph, they want to chat.
"Zola once told me, ‘JT, there will come a day when people won’t want your autograph or your picture anymore. So never say no.’ And I remembered that.”
The Chelsea legend also spoke about his childhood, his beginnings in football, and his journey to fame.
“I started from nothing. My parents had no money, my dad worked hard, and I grew up on the streets. So when I suddenly started going to luxury restaurants and exclusive places, I felt a bit out of place there. Honestly, at the time I didn’t even realise how famous I really was.”
