Real Madrid’s chances of signing Michael Olise will depend heavily on how his next contract talks with Bayern Munich develop.

The French winger is attracting serious interest from Madrid, but Bayern remain hopeful for now that they can keep hold of him - and are preparing to open discussions over improved terms.

As we have been reporting on Flashscore, Bayern’s priority is to resolve Harry Kane’s contract situation very soon. Once that situation is cleared up they can start to focus on Olise's next deal.

Olise is already contracted to Bayern until 2029 but the 24-year-old has been so impressive since his move from Crystal Palace that the German club are having to consider a pay rise.

Olise is currently earning just under €300,000-a-week, but is already in line for an elevation because of his rise in status.

Bayern are prepared to recognise Olise’s rapid rise with a substantial salary increase if he agrees to a new contract, and those discussions should start coming onto the agenda at the end of this year.

Real Madrid are being heavily linked with Olise but their chances of seriously pursuing him are going to be dictated by the direction of his talks.

Bayern do not anticipate any problems with Olise agreeing new terms but only once the situation is open will it become more clear. Bayern hope to hand him a longer contract as part of the negotiations.

Olise is likely to give little away about his own views on the situation, as the 24-year-old remains a quiet character who rarely reveals much about his thinking, preferring to let his performances do the talking.

He did exactly that again on Friday - scoring for France in a 1-1 draw with Italy.

For now, Bayern appear comfortable with the situation. But once negotiations begin, the structure of Olise’s new contract could provide the clearest indication of how difficult it will be for Madrid to prise him away.
