With five new players in the starting lineup, FC Copenhagen defended their top spot in the Superliga on Sunday with a convincing 5–0 away victory over OB.
Thapelo Maseko, Asger Sorensen, and Maher Carrizo—three of the signings made during the summer transfer window—all scored. Maseko netted twice, while teenager Marvin Nasnas came off the bench to score his first goal for the visitors.
Consequently, it proved not to be costly that Bo Svensson's outfit were missing several key players due to injury and chose to keep league leading goalscorer Mohamed Elyounoussi on the bench for the entire match.
With this win, FC Copenhagen sit in first place with 18 points from seven games. FC Midtjylland and FC Nordsjaelland, who face each other on Monday in Herning, have 14 and 13 points respectively, having played one game less.
Brondby, who host Randers on Sunday, have 13 points and could move up to second place with a win.
South African World Cup player Thapelo Maseko seized his opportunity in the starting lineup, scoring two goals and delivering a strong overall performance on the right wing.

Just five minutes in, Maseko cut inside and hammered the ball into the far corner to make it 1–0.
After fifteen minutes, OB had a golden opportunity to equalize, but striker Noah Ganaus hit the inside of the post with his close-range effort.
Instead, FC Copenhagen defender Asger Sorensen extended the lead to 2–0 at the other end midway through the first half.
OB were more competitive at the start of the second half, and Ganaus had another good chance following a setup by Christian Gammelgaard, but the German completely mishit the ball. The visitors' midfield veteran Thomas Delaney left the pitch with an injury after 58 minutes and was replaced by 16-year-old talent Marvin Nasnas.
The teenager first provided the assist for Maseko's second goal with fifteen minutes remaining, before scoring himself to make it 4–0 in the 82nd minute.
Argentine player Maher Carrizo, on loan from Ajax, rounded off the scoring at 5–0 with a penalty in the final minutes, turning the match into a humiliation in Odense.
