Sweden's last man standing at the 2026 Australian Open is heading home after Andre Goransson and his double's partner Yuki Bhambri exited the competition at the Third Round stage, beaten in straight sets by Brazil's Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos.

Goransson & Bhambri began well with a straight-sets win in round one, before coming from a set down to beat Santiago Gonzalez & David Pel in the Second Round.

Luz & Matos were yet to drop a set, and that confidence was coming through in the very first game when they had a chance to break, but the Swede held his nerve to fight back and take a 1-0 lead. That was the only break point of the first 12 games, as the first set headed into a tiebreak.

Three losses of serve from the 10th seeds gave the Brazilians three set point chances, yet two forced errors and two unforced not only saw the Swede and Indian level things up, but go 7-6 ahead.

The world numbers 51 and 57 successfully held serve on the next two points, then, when serving to stay in the set, Goransson attempted a smash on return, but could only find the net, handing the Brazilians the tiebreak, 9-7, and the first set, 7-6.

In the second set, Bhambri and Rang-native Goransson looked to be building another comeback when they forced errors from their opponents to break serve in game five, only for two double-faults from Goransson to allow Luz & Matos to break right back in the next game.

Sensing their chance, the Brazilians then forced a second loss of serve in game eight, which was sealed by a pinpoint return from Luz from Bhambri's serve.

The unseeded then held the next game to secure a third straight-sets win of the competition (7-6, 6-3), and will take on Marcel Granollers of Spain and Horacio Zeballos of Argentina in the Quarter-finals.

Goransson - who reached the Semi-finals at Melbourne a year ago -  and Bhambri are one 13 pairs from the 16 seeds who have failed to make it past the Third Round in what is shaping up to be one of the most open men's doubles Grand Slam events in a long time.
