The return legs of the UEFA Women's Champions League knockout round playoffs, and the UEFA Women's Europa Cup quarter-finals were on Wednesday and Thursday, with several thrilling matches taking place. Here is a stat from each team involved.

Real Madrid hold firm in UWCL

5 - Real Madrid were the first team to book their spot in the quarter-finals of the Women's Champions League thanks to a 2-0 win over Paris FC. Thea Grevobal's red card five minutes in practically sealed the French side's fate, as Real were in full control of the contest. They advance 5-2 over the two legs and will face arch rivals Barcelona next. It is the fifth time Real have won both legs of a two-legged European tie.

10 - It is the end of the road for Paris FC, who will have to wait at least a year more to try and make a third quarter-final in the tournament. They end up losing their final three games, all to Spanish opposition, after consecutive league phase wins. They have now conceded 10 times in matches versus Spanish teams.

4 - An Alessia Russo brace helped Arsenal finish off OH Leuven with a 3-1 success on the night and 7-1 aggregate victory. The Gunners are one step closer to defending their title, something four other teams have done before. It will be an all-English clash with Chelsea next, one that will certainly be fascinating. The North Londoners continue their perfect record against Belgian sides, with four wins from four games.

12 - Leuven can exit the competition with their heads held high. They had one of the best runs ever by a Belgian team, something they can take pride in. Their four losses came against the two teams who played in last season's final as they went 4-4-0 versus everyone else. Wednesday was Leuven's 12th match in the UWCL this season - no Belgian team has ever played more in one term.

13 - Goals in each half were enough for Wolfsburg to make it past Juventus 2-0 in Italy and progress 4-2 on aggregate. After scoring a last-gasp equalizer in the first leg, the Frauen Bundesliga team once again had a late goal. This time, it was to secure the win. Next for them will be familiar foes OL Lyonnes in what will be their 13th UWCL quarter-final.

26 - It will have to be seen as an opportunity missed for Juventus, who were the more adventurous side in the return leg. While the possession was just about equal, the Bianconere had chance after chance. Still, they were unable to do what they did in the first leg: score. This is despite having a total of 26 attempts in the return leg.

20 - Just as they did in the first leg, Manchester United were able to keep Atletico Madrid out of their goal. They did score one less goal this time though, prevailing 2-0 in their home leg to advance to the quarter-finals for the first time. Much has been said about the Red Devils' strong defensive record in this season's UWCL. However, they have now reached 20 goals in the competition this term, qualifiers included.

6 - Atleti's seventh season in the UWCL has come to an end, with it being the fourth time they were eliminated at this stage (the previous three times were under the format with the round of 16). Las Rojiblancas could not crack the Man United code, losing all three meetings in this season's competition. In total, they conceded six goals across the three games.

Hammarby, Sparta squeeze through in UWEC

11 - As expected, FC Nordsjaelland saw their UEFA Women's Europa Cup run end at the quarter-finals against the favoured Eintracht Frankfurt. The Danes put up a better fight in the return leg, but still succumbed to a 3-2 reverse, and 7-2 aggregate loss. They did manage to score in all four of their home games in the UWEC, managing a total of 11.

7 - Frankfurt, who are the only team in this season's UWEC to have won the UWCL, are four games away from creating history in this inaugural edition of the Women's Europa Cup. The German side have won all six matches in the tournament so far, and have looked quite strong in the process. Die Adler have beaten a Danish club for the seventh time in as many attempts.

3 - Breidablik's European journey is over after falling 4-1 to BK Hacken and 11-1 over the two legs. Like Nordsjaelland, the Icelandic outfit put out a more valiant effort in their home leg. Still, they exit the UWEC having conceded the most goals so far. Interestingly, it was the first time in three years that Breidablik lost a European match in which they scored.

22 - Thirteen years after last making the quarter-finals in continental play, Hacken have gone one step further, reaching the semis for the very first time. They did so in style, scoring 11 times across a two-legged tie for the second time, having also done so in their maiden tie versus Osijek in 2011/12. Wednesday's victory was their 22nd in European play all-time.

2 - It took penalties in Sweden for Hammarby to advance at the expense of Sporting CP. After losing 1-0 across 120 minutes, tying the aggregate score at 2-2, the hosts' Melina Loeck saved a spot kick in the third round to make the difference. It is a maiden semi for Hammarby, who have now progressed from their two European ties with Portuguese sides.

1 - Sporting will depart the continental scene, but can hold their heads high for a solid performance. The first leg was the only one of the six matches they played in this season's UWEC in which they seldom scored. A total of eight matches in Europe this term was the most they ever had. Moreover, they kept a clean sheet for the very first time in the road, excluding neutral site matches.

9 - An incredible tie between Austria Wien and Sparta Praha went the way of the Czechs, who prevailed 3-1 after extra time to win by that same score over the two legs. It was heartbreak for the OFB Frauen Bundesliga side, who could not make it successes against teams from Czechia this term. Across their 10 games in Europe, they conceded just nine times as they proved tough to break down.

14 - Sparta Praha have now broken new ground, as they will be playing in their maiden semi-final in a UEFA women's club competition. While they will be the underdogs of the quartet, few will want to underestimate the Czechs, who have prevailed in all three away matches. In total, Sparta had 14 shots in the match, with two of the attempts resulting in goals during the first period of extra time.
