Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers (21) officially declared for the NFL Draft on Thursday, making him a possible target as a team's future franchise quarterback.

Ewers led the Texas Longhorns to a semi-finals College Football Playoff appearance this year, but ultimately fell short to his former school in Ohio State to end the team's season.

The three-year standout at Texas finished his collegiate career with a 21-5 record backed by 9,128 passing yards and 68 passing touchdowns. Ewers was just eight yards short this season of setting a career-high in passing yards after throwing for 3,472.

His 33 total touchdowns were an improvement over the 27 he put up in 2023, but he doubled his interceptions from six in 2023 to 12 this past season. Ewers' 75.5 quarterback rating was also ranked 21st among all FBS quarterbacks.

The Southlake, Texas native is being looked at as a possible day-two pick by some draft boards but could've fallen after a rough game against Ohio State where he completed just 59% of his passes, was sacked four times, and rushed for -18 yards while also throwing an interception.

ESPN's draft expert Mel Kiper has Ewers as the fifth quarterback on his board ahead of the draft. But with the combine still to take place, public opinions on Ewers' draft stock varies depending on whose article you're reading.

Ewers will join teammates Isaiah Bond, Matthew Golden, Kelvin Banks Jr., and Jaydon Blue who also declared for this year's draft.

Arch Manning, grandson of Archie Manning and nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning, will take over the role of the team's starting quarterback after he recently announced he was staying put.
