Los Angeles Dodgers star Freddie Freeman heads to 10-day IL with sprained ankle

Los Angeles Dodgers star first baseman Freddie Freeman (35) is heading to the 10-day injured list after spraining his ankle,

Freeman sprained his already surgically repaired ankle after having a shower "mishap", according to manager Dave Roberts. 

The eight-time All-Star and World Series MVP has two home runs and four RBI this year in just three games. 

Teammate Mookie Betts recently missed time due to an illness that caused him to lose around 20 pounds (just over nine kilograms) after not being able to stomach anything he tried to eat. 

The Dodgers are already on a historic run to start the new season. 

They're now 8-0 record, thanks to a Shohei Ohtani walk-off home run on Wednesday, is now the best start for a reigning World Series champion in MLB history. 

It is also the Dodgers' best start since 1955.
