Tappara have returned to the summit of the Liiga standings by recording a shutout victory at home to Lukko, while JYP have dropped to second after defeat at Jukurit.
After back-to-back losses curtailed their perfect start, it's successive wins now for the most successful team in Liiga history, with this one coming in comfortable style.
Tappara took the lead in the final two minutes of the first period through Joachim Blichfeld, but they needed less than two minutes of the second period to double their advantage, courtesy of Eetu Tuulola.
Not to be outdone, his brother Joni Tuulola added number three just past the midpoint in the match, before Aleksi Matinmikko made it 4-0 late in the second period.
Ponthus Westerholm missed a penalty in the final minute of the match, meaning Christian Heljanko preserved his shutout, making 35 saves in the process.
It's six wins from eight now for Tappara, while Lukko sit eighth with four wins (one in overtime) from nine matches played.
Also on six wins from eight are JYP, with match number eight ending in a 4-2 defeat to Jukurit, meaning the Jyvaskyla side lose first place in the standings.
Two goals from Topi Hynninen on the powerplay in the second period did much of the damage, as Jukurit ended JYP's four-match winning run and ensured they moved into sixth, with three wins from their last four.
