ESPN announced on Friday that the NHL 4-Nations Face-Off final between Canada and the United States brought in their largest viewership for a hockey match on their network.

Canada ended up winning the match 3-2 in overtime, with Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid scoring the winner.

The match ended up reaching a total of 9.3 million viewers, according to ESPN, with 10.4 millions at its peak. Excluding NFL games, it was also the largest audience ever on ESPN+. This shows just how much people were looking forward to this rematch.

The U.S. had won 3-1 during group play en route to topping the section with a game to spare. Canada had joined their North American foes in the final by beating Finland on the final day of group action.

Outside of the NFL and college football, the NHL 4-Nations final match was the largest audience ESPN had since the NBA finals in 2024.

As for the total average across the four games ESPN carried, the average viewership totaled 4.3 million people.

Replacing the NHL All-Star game for the 2025 season, the 4-Nations tournament also featured Sweden.
