The Washington Capitals beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-4 after coming from behind three times. The Caps went down 2-0 by the end of the first period then answered with two straight goals from Andrew Mangiapane (5) and Aliaksei Protas (8, SHG) to tie it up.
The Lightning went up 3-2 with a goal from Michael Eyssimont (2) before the Capitals tied it up again as Dylan Strome (7) answered with one at the start of the third period. Then the unthinkable happened - Capitals goaltender Charlie Lindgren shot the puck into his own goal after trying to clear it to put the Lightning up 4-3 before teammates John Carlson (13) and Tom Wilson (7, PP) bailed him out with a pair of goals to seal the win.
Hurricanes win wild one over Rangers
The Carolina Hurricanes scored two goals in the third period to overcome a 3-2 deficit to beat the New York Rangers 4-3. Jesperi Kotkaniemi (3) scored the game-tying goal before teammate Jackson Blake (7) sent one home on the power play to seal the win.
Jack Drury (3) and Seth Jarvis (6) scored the other two goals for the Hurricanes while Jonny Brodzinski (2), Adam Edstrom (2), and Brett Berard (1) scored for the Rangers. The Hurricanes improve to 16-5-1, sitting pretty atop the Metropolitan division, while the Rangers fall to 12-8-1 (fourth in the Metro).
A trio of overtime wins
The Detroit Red Wings beat the Calgary Flames 2-1 after the game went into overtime. Lucas Raymond (6) scored the game-winning goal for the Red Wings as the team improved to a 10-10-2 record while the Flames fell to 12-7-4.
Nick Suzuki (8) quickly sealed the deal for the Montreal Canadiens in their 4-3 overtime win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Canadiens remain at the bottom of the Atlantic division with an 8-11-3 record while the Blue Jackets fall to 9-9-3.
The Philadephia Flyers improve to 10-10-3 on the year after their 3-2 overtime win against the Nashville Predators (7-12-4). Morgan Frost (3) scored the lone goal of the third period for the Flyers to send the game to OT where teammate Sean Couturier (6) put one on net to get the win.

Taylor Hall (6) scored a hat-trick in the Chicago Blackhawks' 6-2 win over the Dallas Stars. The St. Louis Blues earned their 11th win of the season after shutting out the New Jersey Devils (15-8-2) by a score of 3-0. Kirill Kaprizov (14) scored the lone goal in the Minnesota Wild's 1-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres.
The Boston Bruins take home a 6-3 divisional win over the New York Islanders with Brad Marchand (8) and Pavel Zacha (5) scoring two goals each. The Pittsburgh Penguins survive a late three-goal rally from the Vancouver Canucks, winning 5-4, while the Florida Panthers (13-9-1) put up five goals in their 5-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs (13-7-2).
