World Handballer of the year, Danish international Mathias Gidsel, says that one should be careful to make Copenhagen into a permanent home for the reigning Danish European, World - and Olympic champions.

Where the Danish national team should play its matches during international final tournaments has turned into a controversial topic after the Danish Handball Federation announced that Copenhagen should be prioritized over Jutland in relation to the final tournaments in 2031 and 2032, where Denmark is one of the host nations.

"My opinion is that you have to be careful about centralizing everything in Copenhagen, because it is the capital. It shouldn't be reserved for Herning, but it shouldn't be reserved for Copenhagen either", he says Gidsel to TV 2 Midtvest and continues:

"I agree that you should have a final round in Copenhagen, but you must never remove what we have in Boxen (in Herning). We must not be closed in reference to developing handball and, for example, move a few matches to Copenhagen. It is not because we cannot travel to Herning or Copenhagen during the final round. It's not such a long journey", says Gidsel.
