The New York Mets signed shortstop Bo Bichette to a three-year, $126 million deal on Friday, crossing another big free agent name off the board.

Bichette's deal comes less than a day after the Los Angeles Dodgers signed Kyle Tucker to a four-year, $240 million deal, who Major League Baseball insiders said the Mets offered $200 million.

Now, they pivot to one of the best contact hitters in all of baseball. He will join relief pitcher Devin Williams, who signed a three-year, $51 million deal, as the two biggest moves for the Mets so far this offseason.

Bichette is coming off a season where he was tied with Luis Arraez (San Diego Padres) for second in the league in total hits (181). He fell just three hits short of Kansas City's Bobby Witt Jr. (184), despite playing in 18 fewer games.

He finished the 2025 season with a .311/.357/.483 slashline, 18 home runs, 94 RBI, and four stolen bases.

Bichette has spent all six years of his career with the Blue Jays since the team drafted him in the second round of the 2016 MLB Draft.

The 27-year-old and two-time All-Star has hit at least .290 in every single season he's been in the league except one - 2024, the year he played in only 81 games after sustaining a right calf strain and fracturing his right middle finger.

Bichette missed time this past season after being diagnosed with a left knee sprain following a home plate collision.

Other teams interested in Bichette include the Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees, and Chicago Cubs.
