Bayern Munich extended their 100% record to start the new Bundesliga campaign, securing a sixth successive win in a 3-0 triumph at Deutsche Bank Park to become the first side to shut out Eintracht Frankfurt this season.

With a total of 47 goals - and no draws - among Frankfurt’s first eight matches of the campaign, it was almost expected that the game would see its first goal early on.

Still, it was a surprise that the deadlock was broken after just 15 seconds, as Serge Gnabry pounced on a loose ball and sent it across the face for Luis Diaz to tap in.

Frankfurt understandably responded, and had the ball in the net themselves due to a beautiful Jean-Matteo Bahoya strike, but a handball from Ritsu Doan in the build-up saw Daniel Siebert go to his VAR screen and set the scoreboard back to 1-0.

The hosts had actually been looking the more dangerous of the two sides, but their confidence took a further hit when Michael Olise’s cross deflected off Robin Koch and onto the bar.

That was in the build-up to Bayern’s second, which came when Harry Kane received it from Joshua Kimmich on the edge of the area and emphatically arrowed his strike into the far corner.

Having recently become the fastest player in the 21st century to reach 100 goals for a big-five league side, that strike also made Kane the first to score 11 goals across the first six matchdays of a Bundesliga season.

For a side that had netted 15 goals in their last four matches, Frankfurt looked decidedly blunt in attack as the second half got underway, and the chances again went Bayern’s way.

Gnabry probably should have done better than to spoon over in space in the centre of the area, before Kane could only find the inside of the near post from close range.

The visitors managed the game well from there and allowed Frankfurt hardly any joy of their own before sealing things with a third in the final minutes.

Aurelio Buta’s misplaced pass set off a quick counter, culminating in Diaz turning his man and powering into the roof of the net.

Bayern top the pile in the Bundesliga with six wins in as many matches, but the biggest test is to come after the international break when they face Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker.

A third defeat in four league matches sees Frankfurt slip out of the top four, and Dino Toppmoller will want to do something about their leakiness at the back, given that they are yet to keep a league clean sheet.
