Vitesse got their professional licence back after winning their appeal case on September 3rd, which overturned the verdict of a civil court judge from early August.
The appeal was the last lifeline for Vitesse, who'd lost a significant number of players and youth academy talents after losing the first court case and seemingly folding after 133 years.
After losing 4-0 to Jong AZ in their first Keuken Kampioen Divisie match since returning to professional football, Vitesse won their first point after drawing 1-1 away at RKC Waalwijk on Tuesday evening.
Jordi Altena put RKC in front after 11 minutes, but, as a true phoenix, German defender Marco Schikora got Vitesse alongside RKC in the 89th minute, calmly heading home from a corner.
The point brings Vitesse to -11 points in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, which the Arnhem outfit started on -12 thanks to punishments from the KNVB for mismanagement of the club's finances and licence last season.
