Tallon Griekspoor has reached his second ATP final of the year after beating Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets in the semi-final of the Mallorca Championships: 6-4, 6-4.

In his last tournament before Wimbledon, Griekspoor reached his second ATP semi-final of the year in his first tournament since his withdrawal from the French Open. The Dutchman withdrew from his fourth-round matchup with Alexander Zverev due to an abdominal injury.

Griekspoor beat Ethan Quinn and Gabriel Diallo en route to the semi-finals on Mallorca, whereas Felix Auger-Aliassime sent Arthur Rinderknech and Hamed Medjedovic home.

The 27th-ranked Canadian got the first break points of the game after Griekspoor started the match with some below-par service games. The Dutchman recovered both times, however, and swept away four break points to stay alive in the opening phase.

And it was Griekspoor who dealt the first blow with a break in the ninth game, which Auger-Aliassime began with a double fault and unforced error. The Dutch number 34 of the world squandered two break points, but pounced on his third and saw out the set on his second set point.

Auger-Aliassime started the second set furiously with a love game, but was still without a break point after his fifth and sixth chances went to waste in the second game. Griekspoor, who stayed calm under pressure, forced Auger-Aliassime to a mistake and clinched the game with a winner.

Griekspoor squandered his first two break points of the set in the following game, but made perfect use of his third to go up a break after Auger-Aliassime shot a cross-body forehander wide.

The Dutchman stayed in control throughout the second set, but missed out on his first opportunity to win the match after wasting a 30-0 lead in the potentially match-clinching ninth game. The Dutchman did not let his second opportunity go to waste, winning the match and a spot in the Mallorca final in the tenth game.

After his straight-sets win over Auger-Aliassime, who Griekspoor hadn't met since the 's-Hertogenbosch tournament in 2021, Griekspoor will play his fifth ATP final against the winner of the matchup between Corentin Moutet and Alex Michelsen.
