Elena Rybakina is also through to the third round, as she gets the better of Tereza Valentova 6-3, 7-6 (7). Jelena Ostapenko was not as lucky though, as she suffers a 7-5, 6-1 upset loss to Taylor Townsend.

00:08 CET - Brit Cameron Norrie fended off Francisco Comesana in a real slugfest, eventually coming out on top 7-6(5), 6-3, 6-7(0), 7-6(4) in just over four hours to reach the third round.

21:47 CET - Last year's finalist Jessica Pegula was in superb form in her second-round match with Anna Blinkova, crushing her opponent 6-1, 6-3 to seal her spot in the next round.

20:45 CET - Cristina Bucsa and Tomas Machac have both booked their spots in the third round, beating young talents Alexandra Eala and Joao Fonseca in straight sets, respectively.

20:15 CET - Four-time champion Novak Djokovic was nowhere near his best during his second-round encounter with American Zachary Svajda, yet the legendary Serb still had more than enough in his locker to secure a 6-7(5), 6-3, 6-3, 6-1 win and move through in New York.

19:58 CET - 20th seed Jiri Lehecka has defeated Tomas Etcheverry in four sets after a battle against a tricky Argentine, coming from a set down to win 3-6, 6-0, 6-2, 6-4.

19:37 CET - Some sad news to bring you as Jack Draper has withdrawn from the US Open, and as a result, his second-round opponent, Zizou Bergs, has progressed to the third round with a walkover win.

As was feared, the arm injury he was dealing with leading up to the US Open hasn't fully healed, with Draper releasing a statement in the last few minutes confirming he has been forced to pull out.

18:50 CET - At 36, Victoria Azarenka is still going strong, and she is through to round three at Flushing Meadows with a dominant 6-3, 6-3 victory against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

18:30 CET - 10th seed Emma Navarro has also dropped just three games en route to a routine 6-2, 6-1 win against fellow American Caty McNally.

18:18 CET - The first winner of the day, and it is an extremely impressive one as Emma Raducanu drops just three games on her way to beat Janice Tjen 6-2, 6-1 in exactly an hour.

Raducanu is through to the third round, where a much bigger challenge awaits in the form of either Elena Rybakina or Tereza Valentova. The evidence from today, though, is that she is very much up for the challenge after an almost faultless performance.

17:11 CET - Play has just got underway in New York, with former champion Emma Raducanu, Emma Navarro, Victoria Azarenka and Jiri Lehecka some of the names on court!

Four-time winner Novak Djokovic gets going in around half an hour, and you can follow him live right here.
